Since it is not the end of the month yet, I have not posted part 3 yet but Inshallah tomorrow :)

But today I want to talk about friends. What makes a friend, a friend?

Are they the ones that someone you can talk to without being judged?

or are they the ones that understand you the most and knows what each other are thinking?

or maybe are they the ones that have been with you the longest?

Well that all depends on you...what do you want in a friend?

Have you ever had friend that you tell everything to and you both have thought that this friendship was going to last forever and suddenly or eventually ended sourly? I had, several times.

But I never regret a single one of them because everyone that I've met have either taught me something about myself, something about life or taught me how a friend should be and that is how I see life, I believe that everyone you have met or going to meet have something to teach you. There is a reason why Allah wants them in your life and if it weren't for the friends I have/had...I wouldn't be were I am today.

What do I want in a friend?

..someone who makes me want to get closer to Allah and accepts me for who I am, flawed and anti-social ;)

Greater fates come with greater responsibilities. Some would view this as unfair but we do nothing but accept what is already written for us.

Let’s just sit down and take a moment today to be grateful for the uncountable blessings given to you because there are others out there that would be happy to be in your position. Be grateful that your parents (or you) can afford college where others are forced to take a job to support their family. Be grateful that you have a comfortable home that you can come home to everyday. Be grateful that you are surrounded by loved ones. Be grateful that you would not have to worry about feeding your family every single day, be grateful for the job you have even though you don’t completely enjoy it.

Some of us are fortunate enough to be blessed with this kind of life yet we still ask for more.So please take a moment everyday and be grateful for the blessings that are given to you by your creator. Alhamdulillah :)

Inshallah – if Allah wills it.

But yet some doesn’t even know what it means thought they might know WHEN to use it. You get my drift? Several says it out of habit without knowing what it truly meant like we say it out of politeness when rejecting an invitation that we do not wish to attend.

Person A: A bunch of us are praying at the masjid tonight, you should come!

Person B: inshallah, I’ll try my best

What person B meant was: I don’t feel like coming but I don’t want to be rude by being straight forward and say no.

Though our intention is good but to use it in a context without knowing the meaning of inshallah defeats the purpose and why would you want to say things that you do mean?

You HAVE to know what it means to mean it :)

People, who do not know theirpurpose in life, do not know that you cannot find true happiness in dunya…temporaryhappiness, yes sure there is plenty but wouldn’t you want something that ismore sustainable than a quick fix? Of course.

You buy all these things that youdon’t need to impress people you don’t care and pretend not to care, feel thepressure of doing something that you think is not a good idea, care so muchwhat others think of you and spending money you don’t have…to impress who? Who wouldcare? Dress so provocatively just to get few stares from boys just to feed yourego and insecurities though you might find it disrespectful and REALLYdegrading. Why would you do that to yourself?

We want to find partners that arefaithful, funny and understanding yet when looking for a partner piety wasn’tthe 1^st characteristics we were looking for in a partner. Why?

We live in world that promisesyou a lot of things and happiness is one of them but when are you going to getit? It is all an illusion. True happiness is cannot be found in unlawfulrelationships, money, assets, power...you’ll find it in your deen.

Brothers and sisters I love youfor the sake of Allah, so please wake up :(

Things that happened to me this past week that made me love Islam more :)

Went grocery shopping the other day and walked past a group of males without fearing they would say something vulgar..or inappropriate.
Helped myself refrain from saying something that I would regret afterwards
Shared some of my favourite things/food with people I love just for the sake of pleasing Allah
Islam helped me realized there are SO many things are far more important than pleasing the people around you and reminded me how exhausting it was to please other people.

Never in my life have I struggled with weight. However, I do have people in my life that I do care about DO struggle with this kind of issues and truth be told, I never understood simply because I was never in that situation.

I could only sympathized, I could only imagine how that person might feel and I am not saying there is anything wrong being a bigger size. Being 2 sizes bigger than your best friend can be a very sensitive issue to someone and everyone is different. We might not understand then again, our feet was never in those shoes.

All I am trying to say is.... if you don't have anything nice to say, better to say nothing at all.

So brothers & sisters in Islam, think before you speak :) we don't want to end up hurting someone we love do we, now? :))

Bad habits die hard

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

It’s been a year since I have “returned” to Islam, Alhamdulillah :)

However, I found myself to be in a state of plateau 3-4 months ago and I really want to stir things up a little (in a good way I mean) and I just want to start again at my own pace. Truth be told, I hate change whether it is for the good or for the bad..I find myself hard to adjust. Thus, I want to start with something small like praying extra Salah :D

Though, I will not take a leap and start praying all the extra salah but to start with 2 rakaat before Fadjr and Witr after Isya and gradually add on more inshallah :)

I like to plan everything but I don’t necessarily follow it 100%. I stumbled upon this website and I have to admit, I honestly think it’s easy and quite feasible. So here me out brothers & sisters. IF you are trying to find a way to change or “add on” like reading an extra page of the Quran or start reading the translations but never got it or maybe you’re just in a state of plateau and just want to do something different or to stop a bad habit and etc.

Things you need to do :

1st step: you need to identify the bad habits you want to stop/rid of or start doing, make a proper list if you can.

2nd step: give yourself ample time to complete all the things on your list i.e. to complete within 1 year/3 months/6 months and etc.

3rd step: you want to take 2 or more habits on your list that you want to start doing and 2 or more habits on your list you want to stop/rid of.

For Example:

habits to start doing:

Pray extra salah
Drinking 2L of water a day

habits to stop:

Watching tv series
biting your nails

Once you get a grasp on this, continue to STOP the bad habits and continue the good habits as you go along, keep ADDING 'the things you want to do' on your list and do them within the time frame you have set for yourself :)

Simple eh? In theory, it sounds really promising and I'm truly excited to try :) if you decided to go on this journey with me, let me know! Hope this helps, Inshallah and I would like to thank Gracious pantry for the steps above, thought it was meant for people who wants to loose weight but hey it might just work on other things too :)

if your answer is yes then Mashallah, that is amazing! :)

If your answer is no then I feel you brothers & sisters :P

Truth be told, it IS difficult to just drop your old eating habit and start a new one especially if you have difficulties in facing changes. Just like life....it is NOT easy to just let go of things that you love and work so hard on but that doesn't mean it is impossible because it is possible dearest :)

You don't need to take a leap because baby steps is enough, no one is expecting you to change overnight, take it slowly and Inshallah you'll get there.

Sinning is Junk food part I

Sinning is like eating your favorite junk food, it satisfies your craving but never your hunger or your thirst. By the end of the day, you consume more calories than you intended. Yet it never bothers you

You complain life is hard, you say life is unfair and your life is just full-of-dramas yet you still consume what syaitan fed you horrid music, fornication, partying, drugs, alcohol and you expect life full of happiness in return? You body needs water like you heart and soul needs the words of Allah but did you even think twice before reaching for that coke?

Now you’re in your 30’s, so young but so unfortunate to be diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol . just like the heart…tainted and filthy, struggling to hold on what is left your imaan.

Back in those days she was used to boys staring at her and girls complementing her but one day she got so tired of dressing up for everyone else when all she wanted to do was wear the most comfortable hoodie, shapeless baggy jeans & flats to school, so she did and soon found out that people are not accepting the 'new' her which drove her back to her 5 inch torturing heels.

Nadiah did want she had to do, looking her 'best'. After all, Nadiah is a normal 19 year old girl who yearns for acceptance and attention. So she felt obligated to do so. Months went by, she woke up as early as she could and picked out her best clothes, fix her hair and make up. She was truly convinced doing all this was worth it.

BUT WAS IT REALLY?!

Once upon a time there was this painfully shy girl, through out her teenage life all she wanted is to just fit in and because her extreme shyness it was difficult for her to make friends up until she was 15 and found a group of friends that stuck by her for god knows how long. In a way Ingrid was a late bloomer, at the age of 16 she was surrounded by friends. Like every other girl, all she wanted was to be loved, Ingrid wasn't extremely beautiful nor was she horrible to look at, she like to maintain good grades, she doesn't smoke, she doesn't drink, a fashion and make up enthusiast, a law abiding citizen and she would prefer to spend her time with her friends than going to a parties, that is how Ingrid is. She had a pretty standard high school experience, fell in love and got her heart broken, laughed, cried and whole she-bang. Through-out the years her friends come and go like seasons,constantly changing and keep telling herself this is a part of life.

One day she fell madly in love with the materialistic world and completely lost touch with her deen, music was huge part of her life, the quran and the hijab was so foreign to her. From the day she hit puberty, hijab was never a big deal..it never was. The things she have gone through in her life was a painful experience filled with insecurities, anger, paranoia and everything else in between and convinced herself that it is again, a part of life and it'll improve. she had come to realized that her days are always filled with laughter and the night will end with tears but could never find the reason why. why she was depressed, why she was insecure, why she was paranoid. She could never find a good excuse for it yet did not turn to the creator immediately.

On a fine Thursday afternoon, sipping her hot Milo in the office, made a sincere du'a to Allah for the first time in years and decided to learn about her lost deen and immediately fell in love with its teachings and donned the hijab almost instantly. Her 1st debut as a hijabi came to a shock for most people yet it was her best decision to date. Few months after she decided to embrace Islam, the answer to the long forgotten questions was answered. She could never find true happiness because she was finding happiness in all the wrong places, she turned to music for peace, turned to her friends for advice instead of turning to the creator of heaven and earth who will never turn his back on her, turned to the opposite gender for acceptance, turned to make up and expensive clothes to make her feel confident and beautiful.

She understood that she may not be the best muslimah or even a good example of a perfect muslim, 99.9% of the time, she fell short of Allah's standard that Allah has set for the entire ummah but she never lose hope in Allah's bountiful mercy and continue to strive to be a better servant. After so many years Ingrid finally found true happiness and peace :)

On top of your head, what is one of most ugliest emotion a person could have? apart from hatred, anger and ignorance......and that would be jealously. There is always be people in your life that is wealthier, that you think is prettier, more brilliant and etc than you. This is not only my personal opinion but it is really something frowned upon in Islam.

hadeeth which was narrated from Jaabir ibn ‘Ateek al-Ansaari, who attributed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “There is a kind of jealousy which Allaah loves, and a kind which Allaah hates. As for the kind of jealousy which Allaah loves, it is jealousy when there are grounds for suspicion. And as for the kind of jealousy which Allaah hates, it is jealousy when there are no grounds for suspicion.”

sigh. Life is so unfair

NO NO MY FRIEND, I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH YOU :)

You see, our lord is never unfair..after all, he is the must just.

and you keep wondering to yourself, if he is the most just than why is my next door neighbor lives in a huge mansion with billions of cars and swimming pool and a tennis court and has his own McDonald's branch at his residence like Richie Rich while you are stuck in a rut living in a small home that is probably comparable to his tool shed?

Why is your best friend so beautiful - flawless skin, pretty smile, big beautiful eyes framed by long thick lashes while you're stuck with cystic acne all over your face?

Why do we wish to be like someone else when Allah created everyone to be unique? to be their own individuals?

Would you consider this to be a test from Allah? Would you consider that Allah MAY test your patience and gratefulness through individuals in your life? :) Trials and tribulations can come in so many forms, whether it is a personal jihad..struggling to be grateful to things you have in life instead of comparing yourself to someone whom Allah blessed them with wealth while there are others who are starving day and night, thinking what are they going eat tomorrow?

sister in the hood pt 2

First of all, I would like to apologize for being on hiatus for a while, I have been on "post block" lol

"post block" is not an actual sentence but it seems to describe how I felt during my hiatus. At first I was so pumped thinking I was going to blog everyday last month but turns out I was just out of inspirations and out of ideas and hopefully things will be more occupied around here, Inshallah :)

Today I just want to talk about sisterhood and how incredibly amazing it is. Now, I've posted once before about sisterhood and I still feel the same way...but even more in love with my sisters in deen :) Mashallah how amazing it was "meet" all of them such inspirational, bright individuals!!

I never thought that I would be a part of something so wonderful, just lots of amazing reminders, hijab tutorials, articles and etc. obviously, you might not know what I am talking about :P but recently some time in Ramadhan, one beautiful sister decided to create a group on Facebook and it has grown so much and Alhamdulillah it has been amazing! Just a group of sisters who are just in love with their deen :)

Do you have anything similar at your masjid or your local communities? :) if you do LET ME KNOW, I would love to hear about them :)

wow, it's half way through Ramadhan already.

I've been meaning to post this few weeks ago but I could never find the right time or even the right words to create a post about it but alhamdulillah I finally got the inspiration to do so :)

so here goes...(the question that has been lingering...)

Would you misbehave in class if you know your teacher is watching you? would you dare? Would you dare sin knowing your lord is watching your every move,listening to your every thoughts? knowing what you did every single second of the day?

Would you backbite? would you gossip? would you slander?

The thing we must understand is, Allah is constantly watching us, there is not time that he is not.

For example, if you cheat in the exam and got caught the punishment is immediate BUT in this case if you sin, the punishment is in the hereafter.

there's so many things inside my head I want to say right now but it is currently all jumbled up :( Inshallah I'll get my opinions straight and I shall post it tomorrow. Inshallah.

For now, I'll let you ponder over the questions above :)

I recently received a tragic news, my cousin is involved in a car accident. she is currently residing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia..Studying in one of the universities there on her way to the hospital with her friends during a heavy downpour, she is currently in a very critical condition. My heart and my prayers goes to her and her family. ya'allah ya tuhan ku, mudahan cepat sembuh. Amin

Death is one of the most powerful reminder that one day we shall return to our creator. Death doesn't come with age. Brothers and Sisters please pray for her.

Ramadhan is an excellent time to reflect on ourselves, this is the time we are stripped away from syaitan's whispers and finally revealing our true self....and it can be scary. It may reveal things we might not like but have no fear Ramadhan is the greatest time to fix ourselves..fix our intentions, our attitudes, our behaviors and etc basically molding ourselves to be a better servant to Allah.

Today is the 8th day of Ramadhan and I found things or behaviors that I need to improve and I can't do this alone, dua helps ALOT. So make sure you do plenty of them :) and Inshallah you will overcome those weaknesses and never lose hope!

Here are some tips that might work for you, inshallah :)

Identifying your weaknesses

First of all, you need to spot your weaknesses. If possible write it down somewhere, by doing this it's easier to identify and you know which one you need to work on first and gradually working on every single one on your list.

Make the intention to change

Second of all, make the intention to change those habits/behaviors or whatever that needs improvement and again seek help from Allah and make plenty of dua together with your efforts of avoiding doing those habits/behaviors.

Doing extra good deeds

Try doing extra good deeds every time you feel like giving up, give yourself a little boost :)

i.e praying terawih, finishing the whole Qu'ran this month, listening to a lecture and etc.

I hope this will help you in some ways, lets work on ourselves together and be a better servant TOGETHER :)

Snake of Temptation

Now this is one of the articles I love to read during my "dark" days as we all know our Iman is not constant up high :) very awe inspiring, one of the makes-you-feel-better articles. two-thumbs up!

My Lord or My Landlord?

I thought this was an amazing reminder, it reminded me who I want to please...which of course none other than our Lord, Allah Aza-wajjal but sometimes we forget. This is just one out of thousands of articles reminding you the purpose of life...that is to worship Allah not Dunya.

I was just thinking how much Islam have changed me..it really does.

I used to care what other's think of me, always wanted to please everyone. I had everything that I ever wanted in life yet I was never satisfied there was always this hole that could never be filled and Islam did that for me. Alhamdullilah.

Despite all the blessings that I have then, I was really insecure; I had to be perfect. I was extremely selfish and I was a narcissist (a little). Everyday I would put on make-up and fix my hair and wear shoes that hurts my feet and walk around in them the whole day. Though the reason I did all those then, was unclear to me and I was convinced that I "love" doing all those things but in fact I hate it. Well, hate might be a strong word cause I still like putting on make-up from time to time i.e. Hari Raya :) but not for everyday basis. I was basically in love with the materialistic world, every tiny bit of it. It was all about the things I could gain in this worldly life yet the hole never goes away until I discovered Islam back again.

Islam made my life so easy and so simple...I felt so free.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh brothers & sisters :)

There's so many things I want to say but I do have very limited vocabulary it is kind of hard to just pour my thoughts out :P lol nonetheless, I am grateful to be able to write “fairly” “semi-ok” English. Lol

I just want to make a quick shout out to all my brothers and sister in faith who just re-entered or re-discovered their faith back again and mashallah it is a beautiful thing J all I can say is I can be an overwhelming feeling for you especially if you’re going through this alone but have no fear Allah is always with you J truth be told, It may not be easy for everyone but just hold on tight! Everything will be worth it.

Now, this is a reminder for you but first of all, it is a reminder for me too. I make mistakes all the time and I don’t claim to be perfect, I am not even close to it and I fall short (how I feel is most of the time) of Allah’s standard but there is always room for improvement and I shall try my best to be the person I wanted to be or should I say the person Allah wants me to be? J Either way we should never lose hope!!

Now I know sometimes things may look a little bleak for you, being a muslim youth can be very difficult..yes it is but it is something we have to endure, no? it is a test from our creator and we shall pass it with flying colours, of course with a combination of your efforts and tons and tons of dua and Ishallah he will make it easy for you.

I do find myself to be a rational person and as weird or as taboo this may sound but truth be told sometimes I don’t see the logic behind a commandment but then it hit me who am I to question a commandment of the creator of the heavens and the earth? AND this shows that there’s so many things that I need to learn…and to understand. It shows my lack of knowledge.

Another thing we need to understand is that, not everything good is going to happen now and what I meant by now is when you’re here in this world, still living and still breathing. The things is we are just so greedy and impatient, everything has to be now..get a beautiful home now, a nice car now up until the extend of consuming riba just to get…..what? Satisfaction? Fame? Happiness? And the thing is…it’s not even permanent!! Allah promised us the same thing that this world does but 1000000000 times better! But he promised to give true satisfaction, true happiness…later on, in our eternal life. What we have right now is temporary happiness.

Ok fine this is not a quick shout out :P

But what I’m trying to say is, hold on J everything will be a-ok! Don’t worry, Just pray!

Culture and religion - 2 things that just get mixed up very often.

Apologies I've been posting things that are related to marriage. lol I'm on a "wedding kick" these days. hehe

Anyhoo, being a muslim doesn't come from 1 skin colour, 1 culture, 1 language or 1 anything. You can be a muslim regardless of your culture, your skin colour and etc. BUT every culture has it's own tradition when it comes to weddings. For example, Malays. When it comes to malay weddings there is just so many things that a girl has to go through nikah, bebadak, bepacar, sanding.....

but is it all completely necessary ? and being in such a "modernized" world, bersanding ( I guess you can call it a wedding reception) at hotel or huge hall is just......something so common now regardless the fact that the only thing that is wajib is nikah and yet we spend so much money on the venue itself...like everything has to be so big and so grand and the lame thing is the use "it's my wedding" as an excuse. REALLY? hehe.

It's something to think about yea? I know our wedding day IS special day but do we really need to spend so much money on it?

My 1st post for July :)

First of all, I hope everyone is great and doing very very well :))

Second of all, I wanted to post 2 more posts before June ends....but - FAILED!

LOL!

Lastly I hope everyone enjoyed their Isra & Miraj and took full advantage of that day!

Today was my 2nd cousin's wedding day and I cried. yes I cried...not because she looks absolutely stunning nor was I crying because of her wedding dress but because of the Imam's speech, well I wouldn't call it a speech more like a piece of advise for the newlyweds...and to everyone else too. Funny enough, I've been through so many weddings and I never ever cried before.....because I never understood how important finding a partner was.

Just a summary of what the Imam said was...how the husband should take care of his wife's every need and tried the best of his ability to make sure that his wife and children are perfectly happy and to raise a family and produce children that are pious and god conscious and there was a little section of the speech was about unlawful relationships and responsibilities of both of the husband and the wife, about divorce and how it suppose to go about.

You know how girls have this "list" of characteristics and blah about the type of guy she wants to marry? he must be tall, he must be handsome, must be funny and the list goes on and on.

Funny enough, through out this whole journey of finding their soul mate...women/men deliberately omit 1 particular characteristics or simply did not put into account cause they this is less important or is something that can be done after they get married and that is, to have piety. The thing is, piety doesn't come naturally when you get married...piety is not something that can be achieved through marriage.

Don't get what I mean?

Let's just use one very common example and of course none other than The Hijab.

Ok, whether we made a conscious decision or not but women sometimes made a decision to wear the hijab after she gets married, thinking "it's the right time" to wear hijab since they are someone's wife now and they wear them for the sake of their husband but the thing is, we wear the hijab for the sake of pleasing Allah not the husband or marriage or whatever other reasons that they have, do not get me wrong, it's lovely that they are wearing the headscarf but do you really want to wear it for the wrong reason?

If you marry someone who doesn't have a single ounce of piety in them and produce offsprings who knows so little about their religion, just as you are and there they go, committing all sorts of sins in their youth. The question is, Who's fault is it? The parents who did not raise the offspring according to their religion or the child itself, who was pretty much born in a family which does not/little practice of the religion?

During the day of judgement, our children will be a shield for us during that day....if we raise them right. We know how much of an impact of our friends can be, same goes to our life long partner, to have a pious partner helps you to increase your love for Allah and you will do everything you can to please him which include being a good wife/husband/mother/father :)

Iman checklist

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh everyone!

Remember the day, you made the intention to be the best muslim you could be? so eager to please Allah and now looking back, seeing how far you've gone?

The thing is we have to remember, intention is not something we made once and be forever obedient to Allah, no it's not like that..there are times where our Iman is so high and there are times where our Iman is unbelievably low. After all we are all humans and we make mistakes, every time we sin it takes away a bit of our Iman and if we don't cleanse our heart, it gets dirtier and dirtier and our connection/ties with Allah gradually weakened and become non-existent and that is not something we want, it's a scary thought isn't it?

So it's important for us muslims to stay from the things that Allah had forbade us, to keep far far away from them, We all have our weaknesses and desires..if it is going against what Allah had told us not to commit it is best for us to stay away.

Why?

All I can say is, we are nothing without Allah..we are nothing without his mercy. Again, after all we are humans and we are prone to mistakes. We are weak, who are we to say that we can "handle" this dunia without him? and truth be told, I have to learn this the hard way.

So brothers and sisters, keep you Iman in check :) if you need an extra boost of Iman, feel free to add on extra good deeds to your normal regime i.e. sunnah prayers, fasting, reading an extra page of the quran, doing charity (did you know your smile is considered a charity? so keep smiling!) and etc. there are loads and the possibility is endless!

If you are working for a big company that has an operator/extension phone services, you know the machine that would greet you before asking for the extension number? If you live in Brunei, try calling DST's headquarters and you know what I'm talking about :P lol

Would it be amazing if your voice has been recorded for it and the 1st thing you say is "assalamualaikum"? IMAGINE all the people you have greeted with salam, imagine the good deeds you have accumulated for every single call the company had received! I would be absolutely jealous. lol.

Alhamdulillah my sister recently gave birth to a very beautiful girl!!! Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah, May she be a bright, beautiful & pious. Amin! So what did I realized during this hectic yet exciting time?

WE TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED

ahh yes, I am surely one of them. some of us fail to realized all the blessings Allah Aza'wajal gave us and yet we say it's not enough. Did you know the air you breathe is considered a blessing from Allah? Did you ever think how perfectly "situated" this earth is, how the majority of the places are not too hot or too cold..or at least bearable for human beings to still walk and breathe through out the whole day? and WE got the blessings to actually live here :) take a moment, you'll be surprise with the all the blessings that Allah had blessed you!!

How did it come to mind?

You see, my parents are reaching to their 60's very soon and I'm the youngest among 5 siblings, just incase you're wondering I'm in my early 20's lol. It so happen (by Allah's will), while my sister was about to give birth..my mother was away for a business trip in Malaysia with my 2nd eldest brother, no one expected my sister to give birth early (a week early) keep in mind that I'm in my 20's, so my father was a little out of touch with the whole pregnancy thing and it is my sister's 1st born. burping the baby, or changing the diaper and the whole she-bang wasn't the tricky part but funny enough, it was taking care of my sister! lol this is the time when our mothers would pass down her wisdom or motherhood skills or whatever you call it to their daughters..We know there are nurses to help my sister with breastfeeding but it's not the same when it's from your mother. Get what I'm saying? lol and it finally hit me.....

We were all wishing my mother would come home because she's just going to make everything so much better, it's not that my sister and her husband is having a really hard time but it is my sister's 1st born and I knew how much she wanted our mother to be there.

It's just one of the cases of "you don't know what you have until it's gone" ... true enough I am taking so many things for granted.

Our eye sight, we should feel so blessed that we are given the privileged to see for some are not and yet they are more grateful! I thought this is a very inspiring video to add in :)

To get distracted by this worldly life is so easy, to get caught up with work or our studies is so simple. Sometimes we forgot the purpose of life when we are caught up with all the hype...

Some are going about their lives forgetting one day it has to end, one day everyone will face death, one day we will have to face our creator only bringing along our good deeds and nothing else. sometimes we fail to realize all this, caught up with all the things the dunia has to offer.

Some are even going about their lives as if the hereafter doesn't exist, as if they have all the time in the world to repent and we couldn't be more wrong...

Have you ever wondered if you accumulated enough deeds to actually enter Jannah? the answer is we do not, only Allah knows but isn't it a scary thought if you knew you didn't the second you're about to die?

Give yourself a moment and think about it, maybe it's time for you to wake up and return to your creator :)

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh everyone.

I haven't been updating a lot but today I finally have the time to just sit now and blog :)

So I was watching videos on Youtube, I stumbled upon a video... a very lovely lady converted to Islam...but unfortunately left the religion last year, so I was curious what made her leave and of course I was not the only one who was curious. lots of muslim youtubers were too, she actually made a video explaining why she left, so I decided to skim through her comment box and I was surprised there were some muslim "hater" comments and I was obviously taken aback.

Why?

First of all, the person's comment was not nice at all. A lot of swearing and whatnot.

Second, it just doesn't sit right with me - the person is a muslim but judging another person. It's just contradicting what Islam teaches.

Third, he/she was commenting as if this lady does not have feelings at all - regardless of what her religion is now, it's not right to just bash someone like that, I thought it was just plain rude, mean and condescending.

Now, is it enough to conclude that this lady is "such a bad person" or "never a true muslim" by a 2 minutes explanation video? My mind was at how fast people were on "attacking" her without knowing the whole story - yes it is a sad thing she left Islam but neither do I think it's right to judge someone by a 2 minutes video, who are we to judge when we are full of flaws ourselves?

Also, we say Islam is the religion of peace but here we are criticizing others as if we don't have enough sins to worry about and just go ahead and dump more to the pile. How are we going to invite people to Islam or at least change their views on Islam (which probably most westerners thinks muslim women are oppressed which obviously we are not) The media is doing a good job itself making Islam a "bad religion" and just criticizing, being arrogant towards others is not going to help it.

So I was watching the latest episode of the deen show, do check it out...very very interesting, it makes you seen music in a new light. Anyhoo, I am a music lover...I am just completely obsessed with it and probably one of the hardest thing I have to let go and I am still struggling with it but Inshallah with Allah's will, I will be able to let it go completely, my itunes is empty now (yayyyy!) what Mohammad was saying was right (the person Eddie interviewed in his latest episode) I knew this at the back of my mind but I keep pushing it back...because I love music so much. Astagafirullah. So I decided to look up the lyrics for some of the music I used to listened to and it does make a difference after everything has been stripped away, all the beats and whatever is taken out and just read it at it's barest form and whatever that was concealed under it, is not pleasant at all :/

This one is a love song about a boy who left his girlfriend and left her broken-hearted - I guess more people can relate to this?

This is basically singing about an unlawful relationship, they guy left the girl and found a new one and they girl was broken hearted and tried her best to hate him but wasn't successful, was having wishful thinking that this guy will return to her one day...- well, it's just basically promoting unlawful relationship saying its part of life and you're suppose to go through this, get all heart broken and deal with it and move on. well as, muslims we shouldn't even consider having a unlawful relationship in the 1st place anyway....... :) (save you some time going through all those heart brakes. lol)

There are just other songs are worse than this, everything is about you you & you

Do what you wanna do, be who you are, you're only young once..so explore everything, don't let anyone stop you for doing the things that you love and blah.

lets just say.......dude we're not created to have fun and enjoy this world, we are created for the purpose of worship but Allah is not telling us to live in a cave and just pray. it's ok to live your life, just remember Allah, the hereafter and death, live your life like a traveler on a short journey like...

If you're going for a short holiday for 3-4 days with your family, you don't pack up your whole house do you?...you only take things that are essentials for your trip :) you get my drift? :))

I was watching this...

and got inspired to write this post cause I kept nodding my head in agreement. lol it only takes 30 minutes of your time :)

I remember the day I started wearing the hijab every

day, my palm was sweating and my heart was beating so fast but I was not covering my feet..

I remember the day I wore sheer socks and gradually changed to thicker socks...

I remember the day I packed up all my dvds and fictional books and deleted my itunes

I remember the day I gave up my nose and tragus piercings

lol and the list goes on and on.... well you get the idea :P

When I first "changed" there was definitely a lot different reactions. I mean a lot

You let the good in with the bad. There was definitely some mocking,teasing,staring, whispering,awkward moments and "semi-mean comments". lol lol lol

but we can't let all these things get under our skin, that is basically what syaitaan wants...

like when you're wearing pants that are 2 sizes bigger (for the sisters) and made you look like a potato sack and you're scared what people would think of you?

I mean it's natural to feel this way, really but we have to look at the bigger picture and humble ourselves to our creator because only his opinion matters and everything else is...nothing.

so you're not alone :) All I can say is don't take things personally and just...shrug it off and forgive them and trust me you will feel so much better.

Facing your friends can be awkward but you're changing for the better and if they're not supportive of your decision then I don't think it's the best decision to stay although I would opt. for 'influencing' them first :P If you get my drift. lol

I'm not sure which lecture was it but I do remember Nouman Ali Khan said "you are what your friend's religion" or somewhere along that line and I completely agree with this, we all know our friends does have a huge influence on you, whether you realize it or not and honestly I took me awhile to realize it as well but anyhoo all I'm trying to say is that do find friends who truly appreciate you and help you to be a better servant to the creator.

I shall study now. ba-bye!

Here I am at my usual "spot" at home and finally have the time to properly update this empty blog.lol

Have you ever had the feeling when you know Allah is testing your patience?

Yes well I had that feeling today and what made me say this is because I had a really crappy day. Alhamdulillah. lol but yes it was quite an unusual day for me and I don't think I handled it the way it should be..I just thought I could've done a better way I guess.

But the thing is how our day was "suppose to go" is not up to us and I sometimes forget and there was this quote I kept repeating to myself because I am just addicted to the deen show :P and it was...

"whatever befalls you never meant to escape you and whatever have escape you never meant to befall you"

It is basically saying what is meant to be...it's meant to be and what is not...it's not.

And I thought I was a great simple daily reminder for all of us especially when you're just having a rough day and everything just doesn't go as planned and you just feel like ripping your hair out :P or is that just me? haha.

What I'm trying to say is...no matter how much you cry, no matter how much you complain, no matter many times you wish things should've been different..it's not gonna change the fact that it happened and instead of being sucha kid..wouldn't it be easier for you to accept that this is the road Allah chose for you?

And there's another famous verse from the Quran but I'm not sure what surah it is but, it goes something like...

"Allah never burdens someone beyond his scope"

Please if someone know the exact tafsir, please let me know ;) something so short means so much ;) ;)

If you're going through something really tough like losing someone so dear to you always remember we do not have a cruel god (obviously!!) and.."Allah never burdens someone beyond his scope" (pretty straight forward huh?) just remember Allah never "suffers" us if he doesn't think we can handle it.

So yea if you're just having a crappy day like mine just say Alhamdulillah! and accept whatever has been written for us!

And I hope everyone is happy and well.

I just want to say something brief and inspired by a very dear friend of mine....

No matter how smart, beautiful and wealthy you are if you don't submit yourself to Allah, you will never find true contentment.

Have you ever felt like you have everything in your life, great family, good home, financially stable, beautiful but there's just something missing in your life and you thought that maybe just maybe you feel lonely and you decided to find a partner who is equally good looking as you are and was deliriously happy for a short while but turns sour? and you keep wondering to yourself why stuff like this keeps happening to you and you blame it on life, saying this is how life is suppose to be? and just doing stuff that just make you happy for few hours either as small as going out with your friends or as serious as fornication or drugs..but every time before you go to bed reality hits you but you're just lying to yourself and say you're happy, even knowing that you're actually not and there's just something missing in your life but you just don't know what it is?

Even if you're lacking on the looks side but you're such a smarty pants and you're expecting people to respect you because of your PhD?

But guess what?

Allah doesn't look at your education, the car you drive, the home you live in, the title you were given or how drop dead gorgeous you are - Allah doesn't create you for this purpose. To him, everyone is equal and what makes you different from each other is your Imaan, your taqwa, your good deeds.

Syaitaan is like the annoying sales person for get-rich-quick scheme, promising you to be a billionaire if you invested this much and blah or sell this product and you can earn this much. Sounds awesome right?

But can he really guarantee you that you'll be a billionaire? (can he really guarantee you that you'll be happy?)

I just had a sudden inspiration and decided to post it. lol I hope everyone had a great weekend, mine was superb, Alhamdulillah.

So what's this sudden inspiration?

Jeng jeng jeng another hijab post! :P

Before you click the X button please hear me out, if the 1st few lines bores you, feel free to click the X button but I hope you do stay on until the end of the post and hopefully you will benefit something from it. Inshallah :)

I just want to share with all of you on how I come to wearing hijab, just a brief story.....

I never could understand why people perceived me as a ditzy girl and it's safe to say that people do judge you by how you look no matter how hard they try not to, whether you realize it or not ,it's a common thing.

Don't judge a book by it's cover

when you go for a job interview, their first impression will be based on how you dress yourself because how you dress reflects on who you are (I do think this is partially true!) but it's not a full prove thing...I met some amazing people but they don't cover themselves and vice versa, those who cover themselves but seriously in need of a personality make over.

And what I've come to realized is that by wearing my hijab sincerely for Allah sake, it's amazing how people's 1st impression on me started to change how they suddenly so focus on what I have to say rather than passing judgement on me based on how I look.

You know why?

Because the only thing that they can see is your hands and face and they have nothing to base their judgement on except for your words, intellect and manners. Now I'm not saying that I have fully mastered this, believe me I am still far away from being perfect...I have a long longgg way to go.

Being a full time hijabi came naturally to me, it wasn't something I struggled with...it was easy. Alhamdulillah and I fell in love with it instantly! and I love the idea of covering myself and only the exclusive people in my life will be able to see the blessings that Allah had given me :) how I truly do feel more beautiful and not a single make up could make me feel more confident than my hijab.

And I sincerely hope for all my beautiful sisters in faith would find a pious man in their lives, who understands the value of women and the importance of her hijab and treats you with sincere kindness and respect. Amin.

Misconceptions, misconceptions....

Hi I was just sitting down my super comfy sofa and was watching videos on youtube and I came across to another video made by an atheist and my tummy was little uneasy listening to what he has to say but I couldn't press the X button but instead I browsed more on response from atheists. As Muslims it is our responsibility to learn more about our deen.

You know why?

You may know a not-yet-muslim brothers or sisters in your life and some are just really curious people and some even might ask you about your religion,believe it or not other religions are very intrigued by our religion. They find it hard to understand why women cover themselves, why we are not allowed to eat pork or drink alcohol, why dating is haram and etc.

People would just say...the answer is simple...because it is the commandment of Allah Azawajjal essentially yes that is true, that is the main reason but some people just don't understand why and they believe everything has a reason and we couldn't blame them to be curious and being rational.

For example...

you're watching a football match lets say liverpool vs Man U then while she/he was one the phone, one of the players scored....

friend: what happened?!?

you: (insert footballers name) scored!

friend: OMGWHKP HOW?

you: pasal bula masuk ke palang

hahahahah! you get what I mean? :D that's a very direct clear cut reason why they scored but if you think about it, it's not the correct answer...it should be something like 'ohh the keeper was distracted' or whatever other reasons like that.

Essentially yes it is the commandment of Allah SWT, more often than not they wouldn't be convinced. But for us Muslims that statement alone is enough, we believe the religion of lailahaillah. what I'm trying to say is we don't need to be convinced but other people who don't believe in Islam needs to be. Why? because they don't know what Islam teaches us and it's our duty to spread the love :) the religion of Islam does not specify that it's only for the arabs, it is for the whole mankind!

Take dating for an example.

It's becoming a norm in society to have a partner in your life, it's not weird at all even in Islam communities, brothers and sisters mixing together..it's something we see everyday.

What so bad about this?

We have to understand that syaitaan will do his very best to misguide us in every single way that he could and when you're alone with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Guess what? Syaitaan's the 3rd wheel. no joke. Syaitaan won't shout at you to commit Zina but rather he'll whisper to you..

"maybe you should hold her hand, it's romantic"

...wrap you arms around her, ok fine that nothing hanky panky going on....kiss her cheek let her know that you care.......and one thing lead to another and what if you are not very lucky and ended up becoming a mother at 18?

and some will be convinced that "you're not that kind of person" what do you mean you're not that kind of person? Allah created everyone to have desires but this desires is meant to be fulfilled when you are in a lawful relationship. Imagine if the world understood this, imagine if abortion was something foreign to us, imagine the decrease in STDs, imagine not going through those horrible heartbreaks, depressions, frustrations & silly mistakes we made. Don't you think it'll be a better place to live? no more little babies being abandon by their mothers! but we all know that is not the reality...

You see, Islam is preventing us from all the bad things in life because Allah knows what is best for us :)

So it's important for us to seek knowledge, clear all the misconceptions and how they're perceive Islam and show how truly beautiful and perfect the religion of Islam is - it's a way of life. It's a way of life of all the messengers of God that is to believe there is only 1 god (Allah) and Muhammad is his final messenger. who knows maybe you'll be able to change your not-yet-Muslim friends to embrace Islam, wouldn't that be amazing? :)

I am a little frustrated with myself. sigh and I felt bad about it :( subahanallah. On a happier note I got my Language and Communication instructor to write a recommendation letter for uni. (score!) :D now I shall wait from my boss to come back from her trip and convince her to write one for me too. hehe

Btw I had a really weird dream last night, I dreamt I was in this huge mall (very futuristic!) and there was this computer gaming competition going on, wasn't like those call of duty or whatever and there was like group of gamers and one of these group, some sort of elite professional gamers were all consists of vampires! lol! I must say they're very very good looking vampires and they don't feed on human blood. hahaha

Good looking vampires playing computer games inside a very futuristic mall :p ok I'm going to stop rambling now.

How to greet the islamic way?

The complete form for the Islamic greeting is Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh meaning peace, mercy, and blessings be upon from Allah (S.W.T.).

This is because Imams Abu-Dawood and At-Tirmithi reported in a good hadith that a man came to the prophet (S.A.W.) and said,

“Assalamu alaikum “ The prophet responded and the man sat down. The prophet said, “Ten rewards.”

Another man came and said, “Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.” The prophet responded and the man sat down. The prophet said, “twenty rewards.”

Assalamualaikum!

April is coming to an end soon and Alhamdulillah I made it through the month...and my colleague is coming back to work!! no more crazy overtimes :P and the best part is I'm going to my 1 month leave soon. ehehehe

Anyhoo, So I woke up from my nap and I was thinking to myself, as a muslim is better for us to better ourselves. lol to seek knowledge, increase our imaan, overcoming bad habits and etc.

Lately it feels like a routine. Wake up for subuh prayer, watch a mini dawah lecture or find a really awesome quote from the Quran or the Hadith and post it on my status on Facebook ( I think it's a great way to start the day!) go to work, having my prayers in between then come home either I would come home and browse through the net, trying to find some really good articles or whatever or I go for my tuition classes and afterwards read at least 1 page of the Quran a day.

So I was thinking to myself what else can I do to better myself? *this was before my Isyak prayer* So I went into prayer and asked Allah to to help me out with this :p

and guess what!

This video made my day! lol mashallah wearing hijab is like a huge sign that says "IM A MUSLIM" ;) Jazakallah sister for recommending me this on Facebook! May Allah bless you and your family for sharing such a wonderful video!

I know I talk a lot about hijab, I don't know it's just something so beautiful and so pure.

Since I am on this topic, I have been day dreaming all day about this!!....I want to create a hijab awareness video of my own, I've realized that even those who are born Muslims are not fully aware of the beauty of wearing the hijab and what it does to you, how people will judge you by your words and your actions and not by how you look.

Some sisters just wear it because their parents told them to, they're not wearing it for the sake of Allah likewise for those who wears it for the sake of fashion.

I don't mean to sound so arrogant and condescending towards sisters who don't wear the hijab..no, but to make you realize that wearing the hijab is an order from the Al-mighty and one day Allah will question us why we did not protect the jewels (our beauty) that he has given us and why we disobey him putting our desires above him.

I am not here to judge anyone because Allah alone is the only one who has the authority to do so ..one day I will be judge too.

If you're saying yes you understand the consequences of not wearing it and still refuse to do so then that's not between you and me but it's between you and your creator..it's always been between you and him. yes, you have free will or free speech or whatever you call it....

We have to realized that Allah doesn't need us but we need him ;) Allah is fine without us worshiping him, he is after all the sustainer/al-azeem/al-khabeer and all the other 96 attributes I have not mention.

What about us?..............are you sure you'll able to survive without the mercy of Allah?

I bet you know the answer to this one ;)

This came to mind while I was at work, I was having a really hard time coping with all my work piling up and juggling my classes, my stress level is up to here *putting my hand above my head* lol! but alhamdulillah everything is well :)

What came to mind was...don't ask Allah to change your situation but to ask Allah to make it easy for you to get through.

If you think about it, there's a huge difference right there ;) if you're asking Allah to change your situation meaning you're not happy with what Allah have given you but if you ask Allah to make it easy for you, you're accepting that has already been written for you (ordained) but to make the journey easy for you to deal with. make sense? :)

Assalamualaikum!

While waiting for my meds to take effect, I shall start rambling how beautiful sisterhood is ;)

Islam teaches us a lot of things - How we should dress, our manners, how we speak, how we treat people..Islam is a one big package, it's a way of life :) Islam teaches us to love our neighbors/friends/relatives etc like we love ourselves.

Wouldn't be amazing if you where just walking around The Mall or wherever and a random sister just came up to you and greeted you with peace? Wouldn't be amazing to have friends that don't back stab you, mock you and being mean to you cause the sister understood the consequences of doing so? I wouldn't it be nice to find a friend who treat with kindness and respect because that is what Islam teaches us? for once, wouldn't it be super duper awesome to just talk about something that is relevant in life rather than sitting down at coffee bean and ramble about some random useless gossip about this celebrity or that person and this person because the sister understand the importance of time and how little we have is this life to waste it on such useless acts when other things can be done that are pleasing to Allah!

You see? it's not just for the sisters but for the brothers too :)

We all know our friends have a huge impact in our lives, so find ones that help you to get closer to Allah, I'm not saying to leave your current friends. No, but to bring them along with you...I mean c'mon you have a huge piece of moist chocolate cake, wouldn't you want to share the goodness of it?

The Messenger of Allah (Salal-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “One amongst the inhabitants of Hell, who had lived a  life of ease and pleasure in the world, would be made to dip in the Hell Fire only once on the Day of Resurrection.   Then he would be asked: ‘O son of Adam, Did you find any comfort. Did you get any blessing?’ He would say: ‘By Allah, no, my Lord!’ Then a person, from the inhabitants of Paradise, who had led the most miserable life (in the world), would be made to dip once in Paradise and it would be said to him: ‘O son of Adam, did you face any hardship or experience any distress?’ he would say: ‘By Allah! No never have I experienced any hardship or distress’.” (Saheeh Muslim, No. 6738)

“And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad  tidings to as-Saabireen (the patient ones).   Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Inna lillaahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raaji’un (Verily to Allah we belong and verily, to Him we shall return).”  They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are  those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided-ones.” (2:155-157)

Great day Monday

Assalamualaikum and Hi!

Just a random post....

I just want to say I had the best Monday I've ever had though there were some disappointing moments and I am seriously exhausted! but my day is not ready to end yet, I have class in less than an hour.

Just a summary of my day...

Went to work as usual, then finished one tender document (believe me, its the fastest one i've done!) then finished another one which btw took me 3 days, I basically have to rush everything then I have to leave at 9.30am to Seria but ended up leaving at 10am BUT we have to drop by Bandaran at KB first and took us about 20 minutes to find the building. lol! and we were late for the meeting already and we have to contact someone from KB to help us with directions. lol lol I think we were about an hour late for the meeting, arrived there around 12pm..discussing this and that, measuring every perimeter of the area ( I feel so manly using this laser thing...its like a measuring tape except you only need to point at the walls and it'll give you the measurement instantly, cool huh?) btw if you're wondering what my job is.. I'm not a contractor or whatsoever...well kind of, basically I just work for the marketing section for the company, I wouldn't say it's a construction company..I don't know, let's just say it's a well-rounded business yea? :p an hour later, we went back to bandar and had our lunch inside the car and doing our work..yes our work (now that's dedication!) hahaha! nah, kidding..we had no choice :p and got a call from another colleague of ours that we need to go to Bandar as in the capital city of Brunei Darussalam. yes that, bandar for a 30 minutes meeting but stretched out to a 2 hours meeting! and went back to office around 4.30pm and did alittle bit of work and went home at 5.30pm and..here I am!

well that wasn't so brief :p Alhamdulillah, it was a good day! Time for maghrib prayers everyone! :)

Patience is the key

Going through life I'm sure you guys have known someone very intolerable, annoying and THE most obnoxious people you've ever met and I admit, I can get very impatient with these kinds of people and it bugs me to my very core. I know, sounds so cliche but it is what it is and I need to learn to be more patient. Again I admit, patience is something that I've been struggling with...patience may come easy for some of you, so be grateful :)

Yes, I am breathing deeply right now. lol and I am counting backwards right which I find very useful at times. sigh. Pray for me brothers and sisters.

“Allah surely loves those who are the Sabireen (patient).” (3:146)

You know how I always say ignorance is never a bliss and this is a common saying, don't you think? :)

This got me wondering what if that person acquired all this knowledge but never implemented in his/her life? wouldn't that be ignorance too?

It's like you know the rules and the guidelines yet you choose not to listen for whatever reasons you have but you preached about it. Ok no, not preached but share this important information to your brothers and sisters in faith but wouldn't it be hypocritical? or would be both?

I don't know but what all I'm trying to say is don't be ignorant, keep learning about your faith and implement it in your life then share it with your loved ones and inshallah everything will be fine :)

Assalamualaikum and Hi!

I know it's been a while but this week has been rough for me but alhamdulillah, I wouldn't change a single thing :)

I know this totally beats the purpose of this blog but I just want to post something personal, something that is just totally unrelated to religion, I guess.

Turns out I MIGHT be allergic to eggs! :O I just had my shot this afternoon and the doctor told me I can't go to work which I have to say, it got me a little bit worried. lol cause my work is piling up and I just hate to leave it like that :p the reason I say I might be allergic rather than saying I am allergic to eggs is because....I am pretty much in denial. lol lol I love eggs :( and you don't know how unbelievably itchy my whole body is right now. hahahaha unless well you have allergies (I'm allergic to seafood too btw!) then you know what I'm talking about!

All in all, everything is fine. I do remember having some dramatic moments through out the week :p I guess I do need a mini spa day or something. lol

Btw, at some point I thought I might have the chicken pox for the 2nd time, which is of course is very rare but it does happen and I thought to myself maybe just maybe I will have to skip my convocation (which will be in 2 weeks time!) it's sad but..but we just have to remember everything is pre-ordain and everything that goes on in our lives is already been written. Itu adalah takdir Allah. I really really did thought I have chicken pox. lol! cause my body my itching for 2 days already :p

As I was reading through little auntie's blog and there was a post about homosexuality, so I started reading them and half way through it I decided to search a video about the story of Prophet Lut (peace be upon him) cause I wanted to know the story of Prophet Lut (peace be upon him) because I continue reading the post.

However, I stumbled upon a video that really just upset me :( Is it just me or am I that oblivious to what really is out there? How lots and lots of people just don't believe in god and thinks Islam is a horrible religion. Astagafirullahalazim.

Being an atheist is no joke, I really do believe it is the saddest thing :(

Anyhoot, Let us continue about 'Hijab is not a trend' post shall we?

First thing I would like to say is that Alhamdulillah that these businesses are selling and made easy for us to find clothings for muslimah :) so Jazakallahukairan for that!

Also Don't get me wrong but I do love these sisters (Which I will mention in a few!) These ladies are well known sisters for being a Hijabi and a Fashionista! I love fashion and I love the fact that they wear their hijab proudly and wear it in such a way every girl would love! Just so you know Hana Tajima hijab tutorial was the 1st one I've watched and the 1st hijab style I've ever worn ;) I prefer wearing a pashmina wrap hijab style than a regular square hijab a.k.a Tudong, I find it more secure and it gives me more coverage ;) anyway, it may differ from your opinion cause it does take twice as long as wearing a regular tudong. lol

As I was saying! :P fashion moguls like Hana Tajima, Dian Pelangi, Fae Abdulla, Yuna, Aishah Amin and so on, they're modest yet beautiful!

So when you combine these two things (business + fashion mogul) it does create something great but at the same time it does produce something negative.

What kind of negativity does it produce?

Say...a small business currently selling Hijabs and during very well and she wish to expand her business, naturally what goes with Hijab is clothes and she wants clothing that appeals to all ages especially the young ones...lets say.. between the age of 18-35? after doing her research she discovered these fashion moguls and is 100% sure that this will attract the youngsters and started posting pictures of these hijabis saying "(insert fashion moguls name) inspired clothes coming soon!" and the ladies will get all excited :P

So what so bad about this?

One thing you have to remember through-out this post is that...you wear the Hijab for the sake of Allah, only him and no one else..not for your boyfriend, not for your friends or for the sake for pleasing others because the only one you need to please is Allah, his opinion should matters above all and everything comes second and this includes how you dress yourselves as well.

Lets talk about the negatives firsts :)

At times these fashion moguls do not cover their feet or neck but they do cover their hair, whether you realize it or not, it does create something in you that says "hey, she's not covering her feet!...but she's a hijabi she should know what shes doing, right? I guess it's ok not to wear your socks once in awhile......." lol ok fine not exactly like that but somewhere there, ya? :P

Sooner or later it'll become something "normal" and casual. Don't believe me? Look around you and be truthful...how many ladies have you seen that wears hijab but wearing a quarter sleeve or completely covered except for her feet or her neck? and the fact that no one said anything about it, makes it even sadder :( as if people are not aware that your feet is considered to be your aurat.

Second thing is that, you're wearing it for the sake of fashion not for the sake of Allah. One thing that I've noticed is that some sisters do not want to put on the hijab or dress sensibly because it's boring, it's plain..there's just nothing fashionable about it until these fashion moguls came and showed them yes, you can be fashionable yet be modest!

And you know what's sad about this one?

The fact that sisters take this as an opportunity to dress fashionably when they feel like wearing something sensible especially occasions where your grandparents are there or during Ramadhan, you see sisters who normally don't wear their hijab suddenly adopted it, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's awesome but wouldn't it be better if she kept it on even after Ramadhan?

So yea, wear it for the sake of Allah and for nothing/no one else :) Hijab is not a trend, it's a commandment.

'Abd-Allah Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that, 'Whoever wears clothing to be known (to be recognised), on the day of resurrection Allah (The Exalted) will make them wear the clothing of disrespect and then set on fire.'

Allah (The Exalted) likes to see his servants wearing good clothing, the way that our beloved Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) wore his clothing

Now lets talk about the advantages!!

Excess for sisters to be modest yet fashionable provided that they completely cover themselves of course!
Make it easy for us to shop, providing lots and lots of variety of possible modest clothings!

I know it's kind of brief :P but it's self-explanatory, no? hehe

"I don't wear my religion on my sleeve"

As promised. lol Note: This will be a very long post, the longest I've ever written :p ready??

Btw this post is inspired by the videos below, you don't see Mr. Khan and Dr. Zakir Zaik together in one seating very often. I think I left out 3 continuations of the vids, you can just check it out on Youtube :)

Parts of the interview or I guess...TV show? anyway, it debated about 'Moderate Islam'.

First of all, Islam means complete submission to the creator - whole-heartedly, fully,entirely, wholly and whatever words that can contribute to the word complete :p

Also this post is solely based on my thoughts, opinions, experiences and researches. You are free to disagree or to agree with me :) This post is purely an opinion and not to bash anyone or to say my opinion is better or right, it-is-just-a-thought.

The word Moderate Islam confuses me

Why?

Because moderate means nya urang melayu setengah jalan or of medium or average quantity. It means you're not completely submitting yourself to Islam, to Allah. And when you say you're a moderate muslim or practice Islam moderately...does it not contradict to the meaning of fully submitting?

And when people see a lady wearing her Niqab, you may see her as an extremist, a radical especially in countries where you don't see a lot of Niqabis there. You would say "Inda jua payah sampai pampan mua, it's only the hair" and you would stare until she's out of your sight but don't you think she is just being safe and doing what Allah is telling her to do?

Yes there is some debate between the scholars that women must cover the face except for her eyes..some say to cover all except for your hands and face (please remember to cover your feet too) but following the Madzhab Shafi'e, the Madzhab Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia had fully adopted and practiced is to cover everything except for your hands and face, so yes that's why you don't see Niqabis very often here but it is common in countries like Saudi :) and it is crystal clear for muslim girls to cover her hair. End quote, no objections, no argument..no nothing it's crystal clear.

..Then you see a muslim sister not wearing her hijab and when you ask, she said "I'm a moderate muslim, I remember Allah, I don't wear my religion on my sleeve, is what the inside that counts" or you see a muslim brother smoking and said the same thing.

Ok, I have a few things to say about this...

Yes the inside counts...so does the outside - lets say you're studying overseas at a non-muslim country, if a normal person is going to compare you with the non-muslim, will the person be able to differentiate you without your hijab? no and wouldn't be awkward if a non-muslim were to ask you "If you're a muslim then where's your hijab?" personally there is nothing wrong wearing your religion on your sleeve :) be proud that you're a muslim.
We all know it is an obligatory to wear hijab, so wear it.
Some say smoking is not haraam, actually it is. First, this body does not belong to us, one day we will have to return everything to our creator including our body and we all know smoking is a revolting habit, all it does is harm you and we all know the effects of smoking - lung cancer. If you borrowed someone's stuff, you take extra care of it, right? and you want to make sure when you return it, it's still in a good condition. Again, this body does not belong to us, it is ours temporarily, don't you need to take care of it? and why do you think tattoo is haraam in Islam?

not convinced? watch the video below, there's a little section about smoking :)

It's either you're nonpracticing or practicing muslim, being a 'moderate muslim' it like saying you can pick and choose what you want to follow/believe and leave out the rest because it 'just doesn't suit you'....and that is just plain wrong!

you know what this is?...... it's ignorance, you just don't want to know because you know you will have to give it up or maybe to do have the knowledge, lets pick smoking as an example...

you are aware smoking is bad but you keep saying it's hard to give it up, no doubt it is but the question is are you trying? are you praying to Allah to help you quit, are you asking for his help? or you just sat there and say 'I want to quit'? to be absolutely blunt...truthfully, deep down inside you-just-don't-want-to-quit BUT once a year for 30 days for 12 hours a day you don't smoke, yes I'm talking about Ramadhan. How did you manage that? Did you ever thought of fasting in attempt to stop smoking? and if you are smoking during Ramadhan then I suggest you should re-check your Imaan.

A true believer submits him/herself fully to Allah, avoiding things they shouldn't be doing, they pray, they fast, they read the Quran instead of listening to music - they're doing all the obligatory commandments and following the sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) - that's a believer.

I'm not saying that a believer does not sin, they do after all we are all human and humans made mistakes, If we were to be free of sins than we would be angels :) a true believer commit sins but they repent to Allah and when they repent is like they have never sinned at all, see how merciful is our lord? :)

So yea, this is my take on "moderate Islam" though I personally think this word shouldn't exist at all. lol hopefully all of you made it through the end of this post. hahaha I know it's a long one :p If you have other Opinions let me know, I would love to hear about them :) Jazakallahukhairan for reading, May Allah bless you and your family.

I have several questions and I need you all to answer them honestly, no need to post your answer anywhere just think about it....

How many hours do you spend on Facebook/day?...compare your answer with how many hours have you spend reading the Al-Quran. Which one is greater?
What can you learn in Gossip Girl that can be useful in life? don't you think you can find these answers inside the Al-Quran already?
What is inside your Itunes? Music or lectures?which one should be inside your Itunes?
Did you skip your prayer because you were watching a movie or on a series marathon?
Did you memorize the Quran like you memorize all those useless, distasteful music lyrics?
When you're not at home or school/work...are you out and about or are you doing something pleasing to Allah?

All those junks out there are one of the many ways of Syaitaan to keep us 'entertained' until the Judgement Day comes, one of the many ways to keep us from getting closer our creator. So are you being entertained by Syaitaan?

Since I have some free time right now..might as well :p

I just want to write about one particular attribute that we all should have..and that is patience. Sabar (patience) is something hard to obtain..no really, it is or is it just me? :/

I've come to realised that teenagers are really hot blooded. lol! we get so aggravated soOoOo easily with our friends, with our parents, with our maids, with our co-workers...

Ok lemme tell you something we ALL can relate to :P

When you're out with your friends, having fun and all that and suddenly your mom called and asked you to come home and it was only 9pm.

When your maid misplaced or rearrange your room and you couldn't find your stuff and when you asked she said 'I don't know' or she'll just stare back at you.

When you're dealing with very fussy customers/clients with the mentality "Customer is always right!" and will not take NO for an answer!

Trying to explain something to someone who is totally clueless!

Yes it can be annoying sometimes.

So I have a non-muslim colleague at work....and it amazes me how patient she can be! Mashallah it really did amazed me and the fact that she was still able to maintain her facial expression...as if she swallowed her anger AND the fact that she was still able to remain very cheerful without a single ounce of rudeness in her tone, she was so careful with her words! I was completely truly astounded by her patience and I've seen this in so many occasions. I didn't even realised that she was annoyed until she told me...this is what I meant by swallowing her anger, it doesn't show on her face at all.

There are times when I was the one who was hostile and she was not, there are times when I was impatient but she was not. Yes I'm quite ashamed of myself, I should to be more patient...we all should and Allah would reward us tremendously for our patience :') Allah is the most Just.

So be patient whatever befalls you! don't get annoyed with your parents, siblings, friends, colleagues, strangers....ANYONE! or even the situation you are in...whether someone is being rude or disrespectful to you or mocked you in return you treat them with kindness and forgive them :) forgive everyone that have wronged you and make good doas for them sincerely!

Why?

You might say, they don't deserve to be forgiven and in some situation yes maybe they don't but you don't forgive someone because they deserve it you pardon someone because you hope that Allah will forgive you like you forgave them! in other words you're forgiving them for the sake of Allah. How can we expect our lord to pardon our sins when we ourselves are not forgiving towards our brothers and sisters in faith?

So brothers and sisters, think long and hard :) have patience and be forgiving...this can be a blessing for you in the hereafter.

** I know I was suppose to talk about patience only but I coulnd't help but to squeeze in something extra :P

We all know junk food is bad for us but we couldn't help but to consume it even after knowing it is bad for us. Junk Food is temporary bliss. All those veggies, less sugar less fat...less whatever taste so plain and boring though we know it is good for us, yet we don't consume as much as the double chocolate tims tams, ben and jerry's ice cream or the chicken Mcdeluxe...all those blissful junks. oh so blissful...

until the diseases comes rolling in....

Life is like that...it's temporary bliss. We know we're not suppose to this or do that but we couldn't help it, it is what the ugly heart wants, it is what the heart desires but it is not something we should respond to. Life is not about us, it's not about what we want to do or to date or to consume...it's about worshiping the creator of this universe, the creator of you and I. Turn to him for everything, for every little decision...consult him, trust him. He gave you life and a chance to live eternally in Jannah and this is how you repay him? as a disobedient?

I am grateful for what Allah have given me, I feel truly blessed and loved. Alhamadulillah. But there will be a time life can be difficult, your patience is running low, your desires & temptations to indulge in this world is great, there are times you're dragging yourself when you should be leaping to wake up for Fajr prayer.

.....yes it is a constant struggle, living in the 21st century is definitely hard, exhausting at times, everywhere you go, you commit sins with your eyes, seeing things that you shouldn't, the sisters making it hard for the brothers to lower their gaze. They couldn't help but to peak, stare, admire their beauty. Sisters couldn't help but to show their beauty, feeling the pressure to look good, in constant fear how they look and what people think of them. So-called romantic movies and songs, creating false hope and desires in you...there is a reason why they are called fairy tales because it does not exist in reality. Songs that doesn't have meanings singing about girls as if they're objects! songs like Bruno Mars -Marry you, as if it's easy to just get married and divorce the next day and making it sound so upbeat and fun. Making it sounds so harmless.

yes living in this century is tough especially for those you have lived and loved this material world. To just give it up, it is not easy my dearies. You will cry, you will feel frustrated, you will feel lonely, you will feel exhausted. you will be in an emotional turmoil but mashallah despite all that you will be happy :') a step worth taking, an emotional turmoil that it worth going thru. what is better than living eternally under his throne in Jannah? what is better than meeting the creator himself every Friday in Jannah? What is better than meeting our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and having a chat with him? What is better in this world than receiving the love of Allah? nothing is. This world that Allah have created for us to live in temporarily means nothing to him, it's like a dead carcass to him. If it means so little to our creator than why should we obsess over it?

If I were to ask you, what is your purpose in life? what is the purpose of Allah creating you? is it to just live and have fun and then just die? of course not! Think about it.

There's a difference between not knowing and not wanting to know.

You don't want make an effort to know about your deen because you are scared that you'll have to let go the things you love, so can you have the excuse of 'inda tau atu berdosa' and continue doing all these things without the guilty hovering over you or simply assume it's ok because people are doing it or nobody ever said anything about it.

My dearies, ignorance is never a bliss. Make an effort to know, do your research. Learn :)

Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters!

I'm taking a break from studying :P

Anyways just a quickie update...list of facts I used to not know:

Listening to music is haraam
The aurat of female to female is between the navel and the knees
Interest (Riba) is forbidden in Islam, it is considered to be major sin and haraam wealth. i.e home loan, car loan, credit cards etc.
Believing in horoscope is syirik
Celebrating birthday is bi'diah (innovation) - definitely not permissible
Cleaning/protecting ourselves is an act of worship! (awesome right?!)
If you make doa for your brothers and sisters in faith, an angel will make the same doa for you :')
Ignorance is never a bliss in fact it's the opposite
This world is full of temptations, desires & distractions!
How perfectly "created" the human bodies are, the universe and everything in it! every little details of it is just flawless and beautiful made me realised how indeed great is our creator!

WHAT'S WRONG WITH NOW?

one day...I will pray and wear my hijab, I will be dutiful to my lord but first I would like to enjoy life....

you know what's wrong with this sentence?

What makes you think you'll live another day? In fact,what makes you think you'll live by morning when morning comes what makes you think you'll live by evening?

It's a scary thought isn't it? :/

The problem is beloved brothers and sisters is that we are giving this world more than what it deserves. Don't you agree that we should be spending more of our time 'building' for our next life? our eternal life?

We say judgement day not judgement days but do you know how long is a day in akhirat? just the morning itself is 50,000 years = 50 milleniums, 500 centuries , 5000 decades! Subahanallah!

Compare to the time we have in this world 110 years tops, see how little time we have? and you want to waste an eternal life for this little percentage? really?

So my beloved ones, it's time to wake up...the judgement is coming, so ask yourself what will you present to the creator of the heavens and the earth during this day?

sacrifices

Assalamualaikum brothers & sisters!

Tomorrow I will resume back to my hectic life :P

As usual my mind started to wonder...* initially this is not the topic I wanted to post* lol before you click the x button, hear me out :)

Lets talk about sacrifices.

What have you sacrificed in life for the sake of Allah? Think about it, ponder over it, sleep on it. no, seriously. think about it..what have you given up for the sake of Allah? does anything come to mind?

Lemme give you an idea.....

a music lover gave up music for the sake of Allah after knowing listening to music is haram

a girl traded her love for fashion for abaya and hijab

a muslimin or a muslimah gave up his/her sleep to pray tahajjud

a youth gave up his/her youth for the sake of Allah.

Lets look at the last point, being a youth is the best time of our lives, agree?

Have you ever thought of giving up your youth for the sake of Allah?

hanging out with our friends, having a 'good time', party, doing reckless things, being in love, being heart broken, daydream,flirting,experimenting life, being curious, being adventurous, being temperamental, being super dramatic = youth.

Whoever gives up the things that they love for the sake of Allah, trust him that he'll give you something better. Remember: Allah is the most just, he will never be unfair and he will never let good deeds unrewarded :)

We are all young once so don't waste it! do good in this world and be good in this world because you don't know when you're going to die, you don't know if you're going to live past 20. you don't know. even if you have to give up your desires as youths.

why waste your time going to cafes and talk about useless things, watching useless things? why not make use your youth to be better while you still healthy? why are we wasting our time cyber stalking people on Facebook? Why do things that does not benefit you?

If you think about it carefully, we are our own worst enemy. haha! we truly are! youths have soOoOo many desires and sometimes it can be overpowering and we cave in. no joke.

First of all, no one is expecting you to give up your youth at one go :P take baby steps. remember to pray, remember to put on your hijab, doing all the obligatory commandments. second, find better friends if you must - find friends that are supportive and conducive to your progress. Third, give up the things that you love....for the sake of Allah. (giving up bad things that you love)

There will be a time where your patiences is running thin. This literally feels like detoxing yourself! :P hahahaha this can be a constant struggle but just pray to Allah to make this easy for you and inshallah it will be :) surround yourself with good supportive people!
